How can you get the best result in a child custody dispute?

On Behalf of Cullen Family Law Group | Dec 17, 2021 | Child Custody |

When parents in California are going through a child custody dispute, emotions can run high. For most parents, their kids are the most important part of their lives. Whether it is part of a divorce case or a dispute between two people who were never married, a child custody dispute can be challenging for anyone.

So, how can you get the best result in a child custody dispute? Well, for starters, it is important to remember what family law judges will focus on if the decision is left to them: the standard of “best interests of the child.” That phrase and concept is key. No matter how many different factors are in play in any given case, or how many arguments either side makes for what they believe is the right result, judges will make rulings that they believe conform with the “best interests of the child” standard.

Spending time to carefully craft a strategy to persuade the family law judge that your point of view on the matter is the right one should be part of the overall approach to these issues. No one knows the details of your family life like you do, so it makes sense to attempt to put together arguments that you think show, positively, that your suggestions for how to resolve the child custody dispute are the ones the judge should follow.

The right approach

At our law firm, we work with parents in California to attempt to find the right approach in their own unique child custody disputes. For more information, please visit the child custody overview section of our law firm’s website.
